In September of 2023, three iconic dresses worn by the late Princess Diana sold at auction for hundreds and thousands of dollars each. And now, another designer gown donned by the royal was placed on the bidding block, and let’s just say, the lucky buyer spent a big hunk of change on the show-stopping ensemble.

Princess Diana’s famous ballerina-style dress designed by Jacques Azagury was put up for sale by Julien's Auctions last month. (FYI, the former Princess of Wales rocked the evening gown on a trip to Florence, Italy, in April 1985 and a second time to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 1986.)

As reported by People, the California-based auction house confirmed that the dress sold for a record-breaking $1,148,080. It sold for 11 times its original price, which was listed at an estimated $100,000. Note: The name of the buyer was not disclosed.

According to Julien's Auctions, the dress features a black velvet bodice with “embroidered stars in metallic thread” with a royal blue skirt and padded shoulders—a fashion trend that was popular in the ‘80s.

This is not the only piece worn by Diana that was put up for auction last year. Back in June of 2023, Sotheby’s announced the iconic red sweater (with the black sheep) the late princess wore sold for a whopping $1.1 million.
