Princess Charlotte Will Make Royal History
When Kate Middleton's third baby arrives later this month, something monumental will happen, and that's all thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013.
Previously, men outranked women when it came to succession to the throne, but that all changed with the introduction of the new Act in 2013.
And now, according to People, when Prince William and Middleton's third child arrives, it will be the "first time in history, a female royal's spot in line to the throne won't be bumped by the arrival of a male." Basically, Princess Charlotte will be making history, as it's the first time there's been no threat to a woman's position in regards to the throne.
Of course, Middleton might not give birth to a boy, but regardless of whether she does, Princess Charlotte will remain fourth in line to the British throne, after Prince George, and ahead of Prince Harry, who is currently fifth.
It's widely thought that Middleton is now on maternity leave, following her appearance at the Easter service. Prince William and his wife were thought to have broken royal protocol by arriving late, even after Queen Elizabeth II herself had gotten there.
