A source spoke to the outlet about how Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated Princess Charlotte’s big day. They wanted it to be “extra special,” the source said, given Charlotte’s birthdays were much more low-key the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The gift Charlotte wanted more than anything was a pony,” the source said. “She has been taking horse riding lessons for over a year and is obsessed. William and Kate know that her passion for riding isn’t a [phase] and finally agreed to buy her one.”
The couple hosted Charlotte’s May 2 birthday at their Anmer Hall country home in Norfolk. Family came to celebrate, a unicorn cake was served, and the house was filled with balloons.
“Kate made all the food herself—mini pizzas, burgers, sausage rolls, hot dogs, fruit wands, sandwiches, multi-colored cupcakes and ice cream for everyone to tuck into,” the source said.
The second party Charlotte had was at Kensington Palace with her classmates. “It was the first birthday party Charlotte has had with all her friends,” the source said. “She’s such a popular little girl and loved every minute of being center of attention.”
That source added that Charlotte is a great student. “She’s a hard worker and right up at the top of her classes in most subjects,” the source said. “[She’s] self-motivated and a delight” to those around her.
“One of her biggest passions is language,” the source said. “She’s already well ahead of schedule and dipping in and out of a number of languages, though Spanish is her favorite.”
Kate shared several new photos of Charlotte to mark her big day on her and Prince William’s Instagram, as they have done each year for their children’s birthdays.
