Among the numerous royals attending the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II today are Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco. The couple arrived at the solemn occasion this morning along with royal families from across Europe and around the globe to to celebrate the life of the late Queen at Westminster Abbey.

Albert donned his formal state uniform for the occasion, while Charlene accented her traditional black dress with a brooch—perhaps in a nod to the late monarch, who famously wore brooches to many of her official appearances.

After the passing of the late Queen was announced on September, 8, Albert sent his condolences in a letter to the new King Charles III. "It is with profound sadness that My Family and I learned of the passing away of your beloved mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," he wrote. "Allow me to convey to you, to the members of the Royal Family, and to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, my most heartfelt and sincere condolences for your loss at this time of great sorrow. Her Majesty’s unwavering commitment and dedication to duty during Her reign has always been extremely inspiring; It will be long remembered and admired. She truly represented the unity and dignity of the United Kingdom throughout the last seven decades. My Family and the people of Monaco join me in sending you our wholehearted thoughts and prayers."

Following the public funeral service today, the Queen will be laid to rest alongside her parents, sister and husband in a private ceremony in the King George VI memorial chapel in St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
