Princess Charlene of Monaco made her return to public life earlier this month, and now the royal has given an interview to the press. Speaking to the publication Nice Matin, Charlene shared how she's feeling in the wake of her long absence (she was grounded for six months in South Africa last year due to an ENT issue, and later spent several months in a Swiss clinic to be treated for exhaustion), her return to Monaco, and her family.

"When I returned to the Principality, I focused all my energy on my children, my husband and my health because they are my priority," she said, according to an English translation of the interview. "My state of health is still fragile and I don’t want to go too fast. The road has been long, difficult, and so painful. Today I feel calmer."

She added, "I am very happy to be back home in Monaco and with my family. I received so many positive and warm messages when I was away from Monaco and I thank them for their support."

The interview came following a public appearance that the princess made with her daughter, Princess Gabriella, at Monte-Carlo Fashion Week. For the event, she shared an adorable photo of her and Gabriella preparing for their fashionable outing, writing on her Instagram, "I loved every moment preparing my Princess for her first official event. We’re looking forward to a great evening at the fashion awards."

The seems only appropriate for the famously stylish royal, who has apparently passed on her love of fashion to her daughter. "Gabriella has her own style and I like to encourage that," she told Nice Matin. "This mother/daughter fashion outing for the Monte-Carlos Fashion Awards delighted me." She added that Gabriella, "wasn’t nervous at all," when the two got on stage together for the event.

In the interview, she also addressed the persistent rumors of strife in her marriage to Prince Albert, calling them "regrettable," and "malicious."

"Like everyone else, we are human beings and like all human beings we have emotions, weaknesses, only our family is exposed to the media and the slightest weakness in relayed," she told the publication, according to a translation. She added that Albert had supported her "enormously," and had worked to shield her and their twin children from the scrutiny.
