Princess Charlene offered up a masterclass in classically cool summer dressing this weekend as she and her family headed out to explore a Grimaldi Historical Sites event in Monaco. The celebration paid tribute to different principalities with traditional connections to the house of Grimaldi—the royal house of Monaco—and their histories.

Charlene was joined at the event by her husband, Prince Albert, who serves as the head of the Monegasque royal family, along with their twin children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. Albert's sisters, Princess Stephanie and Princess Caroline also took in the sites.

For the festive occasion, Charlene opted for a look that was equal parts sophisticated and breezy, selecting a cream and olive striped silk shirt by Polo Ralph Lauren with wide-legged linen trousers and a matching shade of green. The princess completed the look with saddle brown alligator belt, also by Ralph Lauren, as well as square Miu Miu sunglasses and sandals.

The look complimented her recently debuted brunette hairstyle. Late last month, the princess turned up to the F1 Grand Prix race in Monaco sans her signature platinum blonde crop. Instead, her pixie cut had been dyed a soft golden brown shade that gleamed in the sunlight—the first time she's been a brunette since becoming a royal over a decade ago.

The nod to Grimaldi family history comes at a particularly apt moment. In May, several members of the House of Grimaldi, including Grace Kelly's grandsons Andrea Casiraghi and Pierre Casiraghi, announced that they are working on "a series of movies and tv shows on the history of Monaco starting with the Grimaldi Family origin story," meaning there will be plenty to learn for those who were intrigued by last weekend's events.
