Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie Stand Vigil for Queen Elizabeth II

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie got together with their royal cousins to mourn their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, ahead of her funeral on Monday.

The princesses arrived at Westminster Hall in London today to stand vigil by the queen's coffin. They were joined by the rest of the queen's grandchildren: Prince William, Prince Harry, Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn. None of their spouses accompanied them to the somber ceremony.

The vigil occurs just a day after their parents—King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew—stood vigil at her coffin.

"The grandchildren, at the King’s invitation, are very keen to pay their respects—just as their parents are doing the evening before," a spokesman said.

Beatrice and Eugenie wore elegant all-black mourning ensembles with matching hats. Beatrice paired a belted blazer with a lace ankle-length skirt, tights, and patent-leather heels; while Eugenie wore a knee-length skirt and a coat adorned with gold buttons.

The monarch passed away at 96 years old last week. The royal family had confirmed her death in a statement, which read, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon."

Since her death, members of the royal family have been busy during the period of royal mourning. Beatrice and Eugenie—as well as other royals like William and Kate, the new Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Wales—have been seen viewing tributes laid out for the queen and greeting mourners outside of Windsor Castle.
