Remember when Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice showed up at Kate Middleton and Prince William's Royal Wedding wearing the most extra hats of all time? No? Well, allow me to refresh your memory and make you feel all kinds of shook:

Eugenie and Beatrice were completely and utterly dragged for their unusual hat choices at the wedding (though this is now thought of as a pretty iconic moment!), and the backlash was really hard on them.

In an interview with British Vogue, Eugenie says she and her sister broke down crying at a Buckingham Palace garden party. "There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset," Eugenie said. "We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me."

The pair lead extremely private lives, so the revelation that the were so upset over Fascinator Gate 2011 is pretty heartbreaking. "We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there," Beatrice said. "Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram-but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real."

Anyone else suddenly in the mood to listen to J.Lo's "I'm Real"? Cool, same.
