Princess Beatrice Is Obsessed with This Reformation Dress (& It’s Still in Stock)

I’ve said it before—especially on the Royally Obsessed podcast—but I’ll say it again: Princess Beatrice’s style has been on point lately. From Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations to her many appearances at the Royal Ascot last week, I’ll admit that I’ve never Googled to see if something was in stock faster than I have with some of her more recent looks. (OK, unless you count that Topshop blouse Meghan Markle wore pre-official royal departure in March 2020.)

Still, there was one Beatrice style in particular that recently caught my eye: the “Carolena” dress from Reformation (in Pompadour) that Beatrice wore to an evening out at the Chelsea Flower Show in May. Much to my surprise, it was—and still is—in stock, a rarity when it comes to items worn by a royal.

I hemmed and hawed, but after an influencer in my feed—one with no relation to the royals—posted pics looking gorgeous in the dress and a Royally Obsessed podcast listener wore the exact Beatrice style to our own Platinum Jubilee soirée in NYC, I knew I had to try it out.

A bit about me: I’m 5’2”, which I’ll admit gave me pause about the full-length style, especially with such a sky-high slit. But this dress has stretch, which made it fit like a glove. Also, according to my very unofficial internet research, Beatrice isn’t that much taller than me. That helped seal the deal that this royal style might work out.

When the dress came, I popped it on right away and, in the midst of a heat spell in NYC, I was actually thankful for the slit, which hit at the prefect spot and totally let the breeze in. In combination with the georgette fabric, which is lightweight and airy, this dress instantly became a summer favorite, perfect for a night out, a wedding or my own low-key garden party. (Hey, a Fourth of July BBQ totally counts, right?)

I also adore the beautiful floral pattern. Reformation offers the exact same style in three additional prints, FYI.

But back to Beatrice and her style evolution: She really is killing it as of late. Is it a new stylist? A post-motherhood wardrobe reinvention? (Her daughter Sienna is just about eight months old, after all.)

Either way, I’m excited about it—and can’t wait to see what royal sartorial choices she makes next.
