Princess Beatrice Just Recycled Kate Middleton’s Remembrance Day Look (and It’s Not the First Time!)

TBQH, I very much support the royal family’s sustainable approach to recycling outfits, but that doesn’t mean it doesn't catch my eye when they repeat a look several times.

Case in point: Princess Beatrice. She recently attended a charity dinner for Street Child UK wearing a black Self-Portrait dress reminiscent of a tuxedo, but with a midi-length skirt featuring gothic black lace. A stunning choice? Yes, but it was also a familiar one. Kate Middleton donned the exact same style at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance a few days earlier.

Could it be that the Princess of Wales and Bea are borrowing from each other’s closets? Possibly—and my co-host Roberta Fiorito and I discuss this in depth on this week’s episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast—but here's where this style choice gets extra interesting: Kate & Bea have actually been interchangeably wearing this style for quite some time now.

Let's start with Kate: She first wore this Self-Portrait design, called the ‘Black Tailored Crepe and Chiffon Midi Dress,’ last fall (and in white) for a ‘Hold Still’ reception she hosted at Buckingham Palace. We saw it again in white at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, when Kate wore it to the Party at the Palace.

Now, back to Bea: She wore the black version of the dress before Kate did while attending a vigil for her late grandmother the Queen after she passed away in September this year. The pair certainly have an affinity for this look!

The good news: The Self-Portrait dress is still in stock and it’s on sale for $370. But if you don’t want to shell out, we found some similar options below.
