Prince Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together.

Buckingham Palace announced the news in a statement Wednesday morning. "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year," the statement read. "The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

Beatrice and Edoardo were married in July 2020, during a private, socially distanced ceremony. Princess Beatrice paid homage to her grandmother, the Queen, wearing a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara.

The wedding made Beatrice a step mother to Edoardo's young son Christopher Woolf. "Beatrice is a wonderful and very hands-on stepmom," a source told PEOPLE.
