On Thursday, September 26, Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi officially announced their long-speculated engagement in a statement from Buckingham Palace. Along with the exciting news, the couple also shared a close-up picture of Beatrice’s stunning engagement ring from the real estate developer.

The ring was designed by British jeweler Shaun Leane, who worked closely with Mozzi to find a personalized piece to speak to Beatrice’s personality. The ring has been described by the brand as “a fusion of Victorian and Art Deco designs… set with excellent cut diamonds of the highest color and clarity.” The release noted that the diamonds are GIA-certified and were sourced ethically.

“I am so honored Edoardo chose to work with me to design the engagement ring for Princess Beatrice and to have been involved in this special moment in their lives,” Leane’s statement read. “The bespoke experience was a beautiful journey; from imagining the design with Edoardo to the crafting of the finished rings. Being able to incorporate both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice’s characters into the design has resulted in a unique ring that represents their love and lives entwining.”

According to Forevermark diamond expert Kristen Trustey, the ring is an estimated 3-carats, with a round center diamond flanked by two baguette side diamonds. The stones are all set on a platinum band and the overall design is considered timeless.

“It’s a very classic silhouette, and the side stones give it an art-deco feel,” Trustey tells The Knot. A center stone with side baguette diamonds is a popular style among other celebrities, such as Priyanka Chopra and Emily Blunt.

Blue Nile’s chief merchandising officer, Katie Zimmerman, tells The Knot that she estimates the center stone to be 2.5 carats and each baguette flank to be .75 carats—coming out to a grand total of 3.5 carats. Zimmerman adds that the ring feels especially modern with its pointed “claw” prongs. “It would suite any modern bride with contemporary sensibilities and a love of antique style.”

So how much did the gorgeous engagement ring cost? “Assuming that Edoardo opted for the best in terms of the color and clarity of the diamonds, I would estimate the value of the ring to be upwards of $100,000,” Trustey says.

With its custom design and impeccably cut diamonds, the ring truly is fit for a princess. For those who wish to steal the royal’s style, there’s good news: Forevermark has a ring that looks extremely similar to the real deal.

The couple got engaged a few weeks ago while on vacation in Italy. “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married,” they said in a joint statement. According to the palace, the wedding will take place sometime in 2020.
