Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg

The royal family of Luxembourg will have a new member soon, as Princess Alexandra is officially pregnant with her first child with husband Nicolas Bagory.

On Monday, Dec. 18, the Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg announced the exciting news, writing (translated from French), "Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess have the immense joy of announcing that Princess Alexandra and Mr. Nicolas Bagory are expecting their first child. The birth is planned for spring."

The statement concluded, "The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess as well as the members of the two families unite in this great happiness."

The baby will be Alexandra and Nicolas' first, while it will be Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's eighth grandchild.

Alexandra has four brothers, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Félix, Prince Louis and Prince Sébastien. Currently, Guillaume has two sons named Prince Charles and Prince François, Félix has a daughter named Princess Amalia and a son named Prince Liam, and Louis has two sons named Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah.

In July, Félix and his wife announced they were expecting their third child, who will be born ahead of Alexandra and Nicolas' baby.

The couple married in late April 2023, with two ceremonies—the first in the Town Hall of Luxembourg City and the second at a church in Bormes-les-Mimosas, France. Alexandra and Nicolas' engagement was announced last November.

Little is known about how Nicolas met Alexandra and what led to their engagement. Alexandra spent some time living in Paris while getting a bachelor's degree in philosophy, according to the Court's official biography. Meanwhile, Nicolas grew up in Brittany, France, but is currently based in Paris, as reported by Town & Country

The couple's child will reportedly be eighth in line for the throne, after Alexandra, her older brothers Guillaume and Félix and their children. Her older brother Louis renounced his right to succession before his marriage in 2006.
