Kate's answer was much more PG.

Prince William may appear to be all work and no play with all the pomp and circumstance and his dedication to his many patronages, but the prince knows how to have some fun from time to time. During a recent interview with Jordan North and Vick Hope on their radio show Going Home, William had a hilarious and NSFW answer when asked about his emoji of choice.

"Is this a clean thing or is this a family one?" he laughed before joking that if the show wasn't family-friendly, he would've named the aubergine (or eggplant). "I've been told not to say the aubergine, so I've got to pick something else. It would have been the aubergine but I'm saying now — because I've got to be all grown-up — it's the one where the eyes go up and down and the mouth's out. What's that one? The slightly crazy one."

His wife Kate Middleton's answer was much more wholesome and PG. “Mine’s probably going to be the heart with then the crying emoji," she said, per People. "The hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong."

Although Kate's answer was certainly the more diplomatic of the two, the hosts preferred William's provocative response. “He said the aubergine emoji, this is brilliant!” North exclaimed, with Hope agreeing, “He knows. He’s got a dirty mind.”

The interview was a part of the royal couple's World Mental Health Day forum, which took place on Tuesday in Birmingham, England. They hosted the event alongside U.K.-based charity The Mix and BBC Radio 1 to meet with young people and discuss and spread awareness surrounding mental health. At another part during the day, William confirmed what his earlier answer had suggested that humor is very important to him. "Having a laugh. Humor for me is a big deal — I love to laugh," he said. "You’ve got to look at the lighter things in life sometimes to feel good."
