Prince William and Kate Middleton just celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary, and a resurfaced interview with the Prince of Wales emerged recently in which he opened up about their relationship and one gift from him that his wife wasn’t too fond of.

William sat down with Peter Crouch for a 2020 podcast interview on BBC Radio Five Live, and confessed to getting the Princess of Wales one present that she not only didn’t like, but also something that she “never let him forget.” During the episode, William said, “I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once, she’s never let me forget that.”

"That was early on in the courtship that was— I think that sealed the deal," he added. William went on, "It didn't go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars, it seemed like a good idea at the time." The Duke of Cambridge also discussed his love of soccer during the interview.

For even more proof that William might not be the most traditional gift giver, back in February, Princess Kate revealed that she wasn't expecting any elaborate floral arrangements from her husband for Valentine's Day 2023.

While walking around the Leeds Kirkgate Market in Leeds, England earlier this year, Kate stopped by a flower stall where florist Neil Ashcroft spoke with her about his business and presented her with a bouquet.

Referencing the upcoming love-themed holiday, Ashcroft said to Kate, “No doubt William will be buying you some red roses.” According to Ashcroft, the mom of three replied, "I don’t think he will."

William, 40, and Kate, 41, met while attending college at St. Andrews University in Scotland in the early 2000s. They famously tied the knot in 2011, and this April 29th marked 12 years of marriage.

Since then, they've also welcomed three children: Prince George in 2013, Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
