Prince William and Prince Harry Will Reunite to Unveil a Princess Diana Statue

The tension between Princes William and Harry has been well-documented, after Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stepped back from their royal duties. The conflict brewed further after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with Oprah Winfrey, exposing much of what they found unconscionable in royal life. However, despite the friction, Prince William and Prince Harry will reunite next week in honor of their late mother.

The brothers will attend a small event on July 1, marking the unveiling of a statue they commissioned of their mother, Princess Diana. Prince Harry is traveling to England for the ceremony, which will take place in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. Additionally, the event will include "close family of Diana, Princess of Wales," per a press release. Sculptor, Ian Rank-Broadley and garden designer, Pip Morrison will also join the group.

The last time the two brothers saw each other was for their grandfather Prince Philip's funeral in April. Then, Harry spent nine days in the UK, visiting family and attending memorial ceremonies. Like with the April trip, the Duchess of Sussex will be staying in California, looking after the couple's children, two year-old Archie and newborn Lilibet, who was just born on June 4.

Plans for the statue were announced in 2017, on the 20th anniversary year of Princess Diana’s death. Now, the statue is being unveiled on what would have been Diana's 60th birthday. The late Princess of Wales passed away in 1997.
