Prince William and Prince Harry Pay Tribute to Diana's Legacy in New Letter

Prince William is out proving that he and Prince Harry are not only "back in touch" but back to their old ways. The elder prince thanked a charity on behalf of both brothers. The note comes just days after reports that the two princes have overcome whatever tension may (or may not) have arisen after Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to step down from their roles as senior royals and move to Los Angeles. People reports that The Diana Award posted the heartfelt note on its Instagram page.

The Diana Award honors young people who are keeping the spirit of the late Princess Diana alive by making a difference in their local communities. William — and Harry, since the letter included him — commended everyone involved for continuing to do their best amid the coronavirus pandemic, including staffers and supporters.

"I wanted to write to send my support and thanks to all the staff, volunteers and supporters of The Diana Award," William wrote. "My brother and I remain appreciative of the work you do to foster, develop and support young people, particularly at this time of uncertainty."

Back in November, William actually welcomed 20 Diana Award honorees at Kensington Palace. At the event, William proved his dedication to his mothers' legacy by getting to know all the honorees beforehand, even going as far as to speak Swahili to one of the attendees.

"He had time with all 20 and had read up in their stories," Tessy Ojo, chief executive of the Diana Award charity, told People. "One of the young people is from Tanzania, and he started talking to him in Swahili — and this young boy was gobsmacked! It wasn't just one sentence. This was not something he had just read out of a book. It was truly special. And the other thing he said to the group was 'my mother would be so proud of you.'"

The Diana Award charity posted William's letter alongside photos of him and Harry working with the charity at past events. The organization thanked all the royals involved and reiterated its gratitude to have the support of both Harry and William.

"We've received a lovely message from HRH the Duke of Cambridge. Thank you to the Duke and the Duke of Sussex for all your support over the years and now in this uncertain time," the charity captioned its Instagram post. "We're incredibly grateful for all of our supporters (including you reading this right now) for making it possible for us to help young people change the world. We hope this brightens your day - it certainly did ours!"
