Prince William and Kate Middleton had a royal engagement in south Wales on Tuesday, and greeted a bunch of fans who lined up to see them. And then, they had a moment that was truly next-level sweet. According to People, a woman told William that Princess Charlotte was her favorite, and he straight up responded, “Yes, she is lovely—just like my wife.” UGH.

Usually these two keep public displays of affection to a minimum, so this romantic comment is highly unusual and highly unexpected. Plus, keep in mind that it comes after a bunch of speculation about William and Kate's relationship a few months ago, when Kate seemingly shrugged off her husband after he touched her shoulder during a Christmas TV special.

Kate and William's outing comes amid Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's (very understandable) decision to step down from royal duties and move to Canada. The couple appear to be putting on a pretty united front, and sources say William is actually leaning on Kate's parents: “William has been leaning on Carole and Michael a lot," an insider told The Sun, adding that "William and Kate have been very upset by what has happened. Not only has William lost his brother as a working member of the family but he and Kate now have a much greater burden. Being able to talk to Carole and share his feelings has been a great help.”
