Prince William paid a visit to Wrexham, Wales on Friday while celebrating St. David’s Day, the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales. And his first stop was visiting The Turf pub adjacent to the Wrexham A.F.C. stadium where he took a shot with the club's co-owner Rob McElhenney of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and of course, Welcome to Wrexham fame.

McElhenney was there to welcome the Prince of Wales and promote his Four Walls whiskey, which he owns with his Always Sunny co-stars Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day. Behind the bar at the establishment, which is the oldest public house at any sports stadium in the world, the pair first attempted to pour beers along with Turf owner, Wayne Jones, to varying degrees of success.

"Just straight down on the side," McElhenney said, helping instruct the royal on how to pour a beer. "See, I play a bartender, but I'm not," he joked.

After Prince William noted that his pour was "horrendous," McElhenney cut in: "You know what's easier, straight whiskey ... you just pour a shot."

"Still got a horrible head on it," Prince William quipped, setting down his attempt at a pour. "That's why I don't work behind the bar. That might settle in about an hour, talk among yourselves."

Unfortunately, the football club's other co-owner Ryan Reynolds wasn't able to make it to greet the Prince, as he's currently editing Marvel's Deadpool & Wolverine. However, according to royal sources per People, the actor hopes to catch up with Prince William later in the year.

Welcome to Wrexham, the hit FX docuseries that chronicles Reynolds and McElhenney's journey since acquiring the team in 2020, is returning for a third season that premieres on April 18, 2024. Given the timing of his visit, there's a chance Prince William could even make a cameo before the season is over.
