Prince William and Kate Middleton Share One Unique Facial Feature You Never Noticed
Kate Middleton and Prince William clearly have plenty in common. They are both style icons in their own rights, and have a shared passion for charity work and their royal children. But the couple also has a more mysterious link between them: they both have large scars on their foreheads.
A few days ago, InStyle took note of Middleton’s scar, which runs for about three inches down the length of her hairline on the left side of her face. Though the Duchess of Cambridge typically styles her long brown hair to cover the scar, it remains visible at some events when she goes for an updo.
How she got the scar is still a bit of a mystery. The Duchess has never publicly acknowledged how the scar came to be. The only public statement her representatives have ever made about it is that "the scar is related to a childhood operation."
But have no fear, Middleton fans. According to a consultant surgeon who spoke to the Daily Mail in 2011, the scar is nothing to worry about.
"I really doubt it was any serious medical condition and I would say it is as a result of an arteriovenous malformation — a birthmark — being removed," the surgeon said.
However, her husband has been much more forthcoming about how he gained what he calls his “Harry Potter scar.”
"I call it [my Harry Potter scar] because it glows sometimes and some people notice it — other times they don't notice it at all," the future King of England shared in a 2009 interview with CBBC's Newsround. "I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine. We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head."
Who knows, maybe these two met at Hogwarts instead of St. Andrews after all.
