How Prince William and Kate Middleton Inspired Prince Harry's Breakup with Chelsy Davy
Before he was living happily ever after with former Suits star and current duchess Meghan Markle, Prince Harry was in a relationship with Chelsy Davy. Harry and Chelsy dated on and off from 2005 to 2010, and was even Harry's date to Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding back in 2011.
Annnd speaking of Wills and Kate, apparently it was everyone's favorite royal couple that inspired Chelsy and Harry to break up for good. Why? Because watching the spectacle that was the royal wedding made Chelsy realize she didn't want to be part of the royal family.
In Harry: Conversations with the Prince (via The Mirror), Angela Levin explains that "a friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate. Although they had a lot in common, she saw clearly that because they came from such different worlds it could never have worked, especially as she valued her privacy and guarded it so carefully."
Chelsy's since opened up about their on-again off-again relationship, saying "It was so full-on: crazy, and scary, and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope." She also said, "I think we will always be good friends."
Looks like she was right, because Harry's ex was in attendance during his marriage ceremony with Meghan Markle, though she did look pretty bummed out throughout the event.
