Prince William “Blindsided” and “Incredibly Hurt” by Harry and Meghan’s Major Announcement
Prince William was blindsided by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decision to step down as senior members of the royal family.
The couple plans to split their time between North America and the United Kingdom and become financially independent.
Yesterday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked everyone (and I mean e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e) by announcing that they’re officially stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family. The couple allegedly dropped this bombshell news without telling anyone—including Prince William and Kate Middleton. And William is...not thrilled.
A source tells Us Weekly that “William was blindsided by Harry and Meghan’s decision and statement” and that “there’s still a rift between the two brothers. It’s sad because when they were younger, William would be the first person Harry would go to with big news like this.”
The source continued, “William is incredibly hurt, but at the same time, he has his own family to focus on and is trying to move forward with his life.”
Meghan and Harry will henceforth be splitting their time between the United Kingdom and North America and plan to start making their own income. In their statement, the couple wrote, “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.” They added, “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”

Following the announcement, Buckingham Palace made their own pretty salty statement, saying, “Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand the desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
