In Windsor today, royals from around the world gathered to pay tribute to the late King Constantine, the last King of Greece. In attendance were Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who were pictured inside St George's Chapel, sitting with other members of the British royal family.

Their appearance is only notable in light of the news that was shared just a few hours after the service ended: Their son-in-law, Thomas Kingston, passed away Sunday evening at age 45.

In a statement shared by the Palace on behalf of Lady Gabriella Windsor, Martin and Jill Kingston, Joanna Connolly, and Emma Murray, they said, "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing." Prince and Princess Michael of Kent have yet to share a statement.

Just before the Service of Thanksgiving for Constantine began, Kensington Palace announced Prince William would be missing the service for his godfather, citing a "personal matter." It is understood that the Prince of Wales's absence was not related to Kingston's passing.

Lady Gabriella was not in attendance at the service for Constantine today, nor was her brother, Lord Frederick Windsor, or his wife, Sophie Winkleman. Many other members of the House of Windsor, however, were present.

No funeral details for Kingston have been shared yet.
