Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was the first big surprise of this year in video games, successfully redefining Ubisoft's historic franchise. The game switched gears from a third-person action-platformer to the Metroidvania genre seamlessly with a new take on the Prince and his story. While the main story can be finished within 20 hours, there is a lot more to do in the open world of Mount Qaf, and Ubisoft is adding even more to it.

Ubisoft has announced a new DLC roadmap for the game, with free content rolling in as early as next week. All of this content will be released for free, giving even more value to one of the best Metroidvania games in the genre in recent years.

The first of these arrives on March 20, dubbed the 'Warrior's Path'. This will include a Speedrun Mode, a Permadeath Mode, and new outfits for protagonist Sargon.

Following that, the next DLC will arrive in spring, which includes a Boss Rush mode and even more Sargon outfits. Summer will see the 'Divine Trails' DLC, which will add new challenges for combat, puzzles, and platforming. This update will also add new accessories to the game, including new amulets and outfits that will change the way you play the game.

The final DLC expansion will arrive later in the year, which will bring additional story content. Ubisoft will reveal more details about that at an unspecified date.

The Lost Crown was released to critical acclaim, with many gamers believing that the franchise is back in all its glory. The game's success certainly pulled attention away from Ubisoft's long-gestating remake of The Sands of Time, which was first revealed in 2020. Regardless, the announcement of free DLC coming to the game is good news and could be a sign of Ubisoft's renewed confidence in the franchise.
