One-year-old Prince Louis is now a working royal...for an afternoon, anyway. Kate Middleton and Prince William's youngest son joined his mother and father on the balcony with the rest of the royal family for the flyover during Trooping the Colour, the Queen's annual birthday parade. Louis looked exceptionally cute in a blue and white top and pants. He was held by both his parents, and my, did he gave an animated, star-worthy first wave:

His brother Prince George and sister Princess Charlotte were also there and are Trooping the Colour veterans at this point.

This is Louis's very first royal engagement. His first event as a royal was his christening, but he was a little too young to understand that. Louis's Trooping the Colour appearance comes just a little over a month after his mother and father revealed three new portraits of him for his birthday.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share three new photographs of Prince Louis ahead of his first birthday tomorrow. The photographs were taken earlier this month by The Duchess at their home in Norfolk," Kensington Palace captioned the photos. He is obviously a very photogenic baby:

Louis also stole the spotlight in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's photos of their family visiting Kate's Back to Nature garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower show last month. Sure, George and Charlotte were there looking cute too, but Louis, smiling and walking with a stick in his hand, really looked like he owned the place.

Kensington Palace revealed the kids helped with the garden a bit-yes, even Louis. "Over the past months, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate @The_RHS Back to Nature Garden," the Palace wrote. "Hazel sticks collected by the family were also used to make the garden’s den."
