Prince Louis has a very specific tastes when it comes to vegetables, according to Kate Middleton.
Middleton and Prince William joined baking expert Mary Berry for A Berry Royal Christmas, which aired in the U.K. on Monday night. During the event, the duchess opened up about Christmas dinner and the family’s very own vegetable patch.
“We grow our own vegetables,” Middleton told Berry. “We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot—a massive favorite—Louis absolutely loves beetroot.” Yup, this royal baby loves beets. Who knew?
According to People, Berry makes a beetroot and chocolate cake during the one-hour special, inspired by Louis's love of beets.
As for her other children, Middleton also gave viewers some insight into Charlotte’s food preferences. “Charlotte obviously likes her Charlotte potatoes,” she said. Makes sense.
During the same segment, the duchess revealed that she has a passion for baking—so much so that she’s created an annual tradition where she stays up late on the eve of her children’s birthdays, so they can wake up to a delicious treat.
“I love making the cake,” Middleton told Berry, according to Hello! magazine. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I make far too much. But I love it.”
OK, so this royal family grows their own vegetables and bakes their own cakes? We’re majorly royally impressed.
