Baby whisperer Prince Harry is very, very eager to start his own royal family with Meghan Markle, ET is reporting - presumably right after their May wedding.

"My sources are saying that Prince Harry, particularly, is very keen to start a family, pretty soon after the royal wedding," royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told the outlet on Tuesday. "He's made no secret about wanting children."

Markle and Harry themselves have told the press they want kids soon. "No [not now], of course, you know, one step at a time," Harry said during their engagement interview. "Hopefully we'll start a family in the near future."

According to Nicholl, Harry's baby fever set in after he saw Prince William and Kate Middleton start their family. "I think that moment [for Harry] really kicked in when his brother, Prince William, of course, settled down with Kate Middleton. That has definitely gotten Prince Harry pretty broody."

Markle meeting Prince George and Princess Charlotte was significant for Harry. "The reason he wanted Meghan to meet Prince George and Princess Charlotte was so she could see that - this would be hopefully replicated by them, that they would go on to have children," Nicholl said. "That you marry into the royal family, but that doesn't mean you can't have a regular family with cute children, and here are George and Charlotte to show that that can happen. That was really important to him."

Markle herself is "very doting with children. She is very maternal and she was thrilled to meet George and Charlotte. I think one of the lovely things, anecdotes that I discovered [while writing] the book was, it was actually a moment involving children, when Meghan really fell for Prince Harry."

That moment was when Markle and Harry's relationship became public, and they went to stay with Markle's friends Ben and Jessica Mulroney at their Toronto home to hide from the paparazzi. Harry, Nicholl reported for Vanity Fair, "was a big hit with the couple's three young children, 7-year-old twins Brian and John, and their 4-year-old daughter, Isobel."

"When Harry came to visit the family he brought a bag filled with gifts. He won the kids over in an instant. He was brilliant with them and I think what swung it for Meghan was how good Harry was with them," a source told Nicholl. "I actually think that might have been the moment Meghan really fell for Harry. He got to know the Mulroneys quite well, and they liked Harry from the beginning."
