Prince Harry sat down with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes tonight to discuss Spare, his memoir, which comes out on Tuesday.

In one exchange about his mother, Cooper asks Harry, "You didn't believe she was dead?" To which Prince Harry responds, "For a long time, I just refused to accept that she was gone. She would never do this to us, but also part of, maybe this is all part of a plan."

Cooper replies, "You really believed that maybe she had just decided to disappear for a time?" Harry says, "For a time, and then that she would call us and that we would go and join her, yeah."

Here's the rest of the exchange:

Anderson Cooper: How long did you believe that?

Prince Harry: Years. Many, many years. And William and I talked about it as well. He had-- he had um, similar thoughts.

Anderson Cooper: You write in the book, “I’d often say it to myself first thing in the morning, 'Maybe this is the day. Maybe this is the day that she's gonna reappear.'"

Prince Harry: Yeah, hope. I had huge amounts of hope.

When he was 20 years old, he saw the police report about her death, and he still believed his mother was alive until he was 23, when he went to Paris. There, he drove through the tunnel where Princess Diana died.

Due to early leaks of the book, some of the shocking revelations within Spare have already been made public, including an alleged physical assault committed by William and details of his time in Afghanistan. Earlier today, an interview with Prince Harry aired in the UK, wherein the Duke of Sussex discussed a member of the royal family's comments about the color of Archie's skin.

Tomorrow morning, Prince Harry will be on Good Morning America for an interview with Michael Strahan. In a teaser for that conversation, Harry talks about calling William his "beloved brother" and his "archnemesis" in Spare.
