  • Prince Harry admits that he would have been back to visit the UK if not for COVID-19.

  • He discussed his decision to stay in the U.S. during the pandemic in a video call with staff and volunteers from the Rugby Football League.

Prince Harry might be a little homesick. During a video call to host a quiz with staff and volunteers from the Rugby Football League, he was candid about the reason for not visiting the UK during the pandemic. He explained that he wanted to stay in the U.S. because COVID-19 is still a concern.

“We’ve got a whole rugby league World Cup coming next year,” he said of the England tournament in October 2021. “I definitely plan on coming back. I would have been back already had it not been for COVID.”

The conversation was in celebration of the Rugby League’s 125th birthday. Since Harry is the Patron of the Rugby League, he used the sport’s special day as a chance to honor the rugby community.

He continued, “It can bring so many families together, bring so many people together….It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the stands, whether you’re the groundsman, whether you’re a player, whether you’re a fan, or whether you’re a first time watcher, every single person is bound by this family feeling.”

It makes sense that Harry is missing the UK, especially when it comes to participating in one of his favorite hobbies. But he is enjoying life with wife Meghan Markle and son Archie since they announced their separation from the royal family. They recently moved to Santa Barbara in order to have more privacy than they had in Los Angeles. A source told Page Six that Meghan and Harry want to raise their son, Archie, in a quieter community:

“They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy. This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible. Harry and Meghan never intended to make Los Angeles their home. It was a good place for them to be upon their arrival in the U.S. to be close to Meghan’s mom.”

Hopefully, once the pandemic is over, Harry, Meghan, and little Archie can take a trip to England!
