From Town & Country

Prince Harry is back in the UK for a final round of public engagements before he and Meghan officially transition out of their senior roles in the royal family on March 31. Today the Duke of Sussex is in Scotland, supporting an ecotourism summit co-hosted by his sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst.

Travalyst, which officially launched back in September, is focused on encouraging environmentally and culturally conscious tourism across the industry.

“Our ambition is to transform travel and tourism so that every holiday people take, every trip they book, will have a positive impact and better protect the destinations and communities they visit,” reads a statement from a spokesperson for the group.

“Whether it is through the activities people do, where they stay, or how they get there, we are looking for ways to make it easier for everyone to choose, and for the industry to provide, more purposeful and sustainable options.”

This morning, Harry welcomed participants to the event with remarks about the importance of travel, and the responsibility of the industry to cultivate sustainable practices.

"We believe travel is a good thing. It is the heart of human experience, of cultural connections, and of new friendships," he said of the Travalyst team, which includes partners like Booking.com, Skyscanner, Tripadvisor, and Visa.

"We all see a future where people are able to take holidays and trips that have social, environmental and economic benefits to communities and destinations built-in. Based on our research, there is an increasing desire for these types of trips – and we want to make them a reality for everyone, but we can’t do it without your help."

Throughout the rest of the program, Harry is expected to sit in on panels, but he is not scheduled to make any other speeches.

This marks the first of several appearances for the Duke in the coming days. He arrived back in the UK last night, and it's unclear if Meghan and Archie traveled with him, but royal watchers will see the Duchess next week. She has several announced public engagements on the calendar.
