Prince William and Prince Harry may not have walked side-by-side during their grandfather's funeral procession, but they did get a chance to catch up.

On April 17, Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton shared a chat following the funeral for Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Not only was this the brothers' first joint appearance since the Duke of Sussex moved his family to California, but the first time they were seen together since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's emotional sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, which unveiled some seriously troubling details about the couple's royal life.

Though this walk back to Windsor Castle was not the first time the brothers have had a chance to talk since the interview, prior conversations were reportedly “not productive.”

“Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too,” Gayle King said on her morning show back in March. “The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation. I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately, but yet they believe these false stories [that] are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.”

The Duchess of Sussex, who is pregnant with the couple's second child, was not cleared to travel by her physician, but reportedly watched the proceedings from home and sent a very personal tribute to her late grandfather-in-law to the service.

While the group can be seen walking together in multiple videos, Middleton eventually hangs back to speak with someone else, allowing the brothers some one-on-one time. According to CNN reporter Victoria Arbiter, cars were available to transport the royals from St. George's Chapel back to the castle, but Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton opted to walk together as a family.

“Having been separated in the Chapel they're now able to come together which will be a comfort to the Queen,” she tweeted.

It was also a comfort to many on social media who were able to watch the proceedings via a live telecast. “Thank goodness William and Harry put their differences aside to properly reunite and chat after the service,” one user tweeted. “Lovely of Kate to step away and walk with Sophie, giving the two brothers their first moment together.”

“Not a royalist but it did warm my heart seeing William, Harry and Kate so close,” another added
