Prince Harry and Prince William Make First Joint Appearance Since Oprah Interview

Prince Harry and Prince William just reunited at the funeral for their grandfather Prince Philip.

On April 17 the brothers made their first appearance since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey about their departure from royal life in the U.K. This also marks Prince Harry's first visit to the U.K. since moving to the United States in March 2020.

During the procession Prince Harry and Prince William were separated by their cousin Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne. This was not due to any drama surrounding the younger brother's tell-all but “a practical change rather than sending a signal.”

“This is a funeral and we are not going to be drawn into perceptions of drama,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said in a statement, per People. “The arrangements have been agreed and represent Her Majesty's wishes.”

After the funeral the brothers were spotted walking back from St. George's Chapel together, chatting one-on-one.

Markle could not attend the service because she is pregnant with the couple's second child. “The Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel,” a royal spokesman said earlier this week.

Kate Middleton arrived at Windsor Castle wearing Queen Elizabeth's Bahrain pearl drop earrings, a pearl necklace, and a veiled fascinator. Given COVID-19 restrictions, only about 30 guests were invited to attend.

Earlier this week both Prince Harry and Prince William released touching statements about the Duke of Edinburgh. “My grandfather was a man of service, honour, and great humour. He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm—and also because you never knew what he might say next,” Prince Harry wrote. “He was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end.”

Prince William posted his thoughts to Kensington Royal's Instagram page: “I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life—both through good times and the hardest days,” he wrote. “I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!”
