Prince Harry Once Gave an Obscene Gift to His Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth

The British Royal Family contains multitudes within it. Some Royals, like Princess Diana, are known for their bold activism, leveraging the monarchy's power to push for progressive social change. Others, like King Edward VIII, are remembered for their controversial marriages and unfortunate Nazi-adjacent actions.

And then there's Prince Harry, who somehow managed toembody all that in less than 40 years. The guy is on a speed run of royal accomplishments and controversy.

In fact, Prince Harry has such a prominent place in the discourse these days that it's easy to forget that once upon a time, his reputation was just that of the playful scamp around the palace. The guy who liked to party and who got up to, and got away with, the kind of things his older, heir-to-the-throne brother never could.

We recently got a glimpse of that former, more carefree Harry as a story re-emerged about a gift the Prince once gave his late grandmother for the holidays. And it is a doozy.

Since money is no object for the Windsors, the Royal Family has long since abandoned spending large amounts on lavish gifts. Instead, the tradition has been to exchange humorous gag gifts with one another. We've previously noted that in recent years, before the estrangement, Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, got in on the fun, gifting Queen Elizabeth a singing hamster toy, which her corgis subsequently destroyed.

But as it turns out, Prince Harry once gave a gag gift to his grandmother that was even more cheeky. According to the U.S. Sun, Harry once gifted her a shower cap that read, "Ain’t life a b***h."

You're not alone if you're finding it hard to imagine the Queen ever wearing such an item. Former royal butler Paul Burrell said the gift was unlikely to be put to practical use. "As I know the Queen doesn’t take a shower," he is quoted as saying, "...no, don’t think it would have been worn."
