Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Summer Plans Probably Aren't Happening

You're not the only person with their summer plans in limbo. According to Yahoo royal correspondent Rebecca Taylor, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's summertime vacation may not go as planned. The former senior royals, like everyone else, are waiting out the coronavirus pandemic and because of all the uncertainty surrounding travel and safety, their plans to spend some time at Balmoral with the queen are likely shelved for the time being. Taylor noted that it's "very unlikely the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be returning to the U.K."

Cosmopolitan adds that during an appearance on This Morning, health secretary Matt Hancock explained that it's "unlikely" that travelers will be able to fly this summer, including Harry and Meghan. On top of the safety concerns, Hancock adds that government ministers are in the process of implementing a "two-week isolation period" for anyone flying into England. Given that the queen is older, it's also safe to assume that she'd want to limit her exposure to people, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Meghan, Archie, and Harry aren't the only ones being affected by travel limitations. Any other royals that had plans for overseas voyages will have their itineraries put on hold, too. Even the queen is putting everything on pause for now and will, in all likelihood, stay out of the public eye "indefinitely."

Royal biographer Andrew Morton explained, saying, "It's terribly sad, but I can’t see how the Queen can resume her usual job. The COVID-19 virus isn't going away soon and will be with us for months, if not years. It would be far too risky for the Queen to start meeting people on a regular basis. She has always loved getting out and meeting people, but she can't take the risk. How can she carry out investitures, meet ambassadors, do walkabouts, and visit places without meeting people at close range? If she gets the bug, it could be fatal and would put Prince Philip at risk."
