Baby Archie's christening was a decidedly intimate affair. Only about 25 people were invited to take part in the religious milestone, all of them close friends and family of the young royal's parents.

All of them, except one. While members of the press were not allowed to report on the private ceremony from within the chapel, or to capture images of the royals entering and leaving the church, Harry and Meghan did allow one photographer, Chris Allerton, to document the day.

The Sussexes shared two of his photos publicly this afternoon: one picture of the proud parents with their two-month-old son in the Windsor Castle rose garden, and another family portrait taken in the green drawing room (above).

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support," reads a statement released by Buckingham Palace alongside the pictures. "They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents."

Allerton also shared his thoughts about photographing the day.

"I am honoured to take the official photographs at the christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and to once again, be part of such a special and joyous occasion for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex," he said in a statement.

Indeed, this is not the first time Allerton has been on-hand to photograph a milestone for Harry and Meghan. He captured private images of their wedding, one of which was shared as the Sussexes' Christmas card in 2018, and several others which were used to mark their anniversary.

He was also there to document baby Archie's introduction to the world just days after he was born, and the first time he met his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

But the royals' aren't his only clients. A veteran of the British Army, Allerton says he's had a lifelong love of photography and has worked with publications ranging from Harper's Bazaar to Country Life.
