Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have expressed their condolences to Princess Kate following her announcement of her cancer diagnosis.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” a spokesperson for the Sussexes said.

In addition, Bazaar has learned that Harry and Meghan also reached out to the Prince and Princess of Wales privately after learning of Kate’s diagnosis.

Kate personally revealed the diagnosis in a video statement shared to social media on Friday. In the clip, she discusses the abdominal surgery she underwent in January, at which time doctors did not believe her condition to be cancerous.

“The surgery was successful; however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she said. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She went on to describe the impact the diagnosis has had on her, husband Prince William, and their three kids: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay,” Kate said. “As I have said to them: I am well, and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body, and spirits.”

The princess also praised William for his support throughout her treatment so far. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too,” Kate continued. “As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”
