Kate Middleton, 42, and Prince William, 41, have been receiving overwhelming support from well-wishers around the world following the Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis. And two of the supporters just so happen to be her in-laws, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who reached out to the royal couple to share some encouraging words amid the news.

According to a new statement shared with People on March 22, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly shared their support for the Princess of Wales, writing, “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

People also shared that Prince Harry and Markle privately reached out to Princess Catherine and Prince William with their well-wishes.

In the heartbreaking video released on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s IG page, Princess Catherine revealed that she is currently undergoing treatment for her cancer diagnosis. She said in the clip, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.”

She continued, “The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy, and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Following the video announcement, a spokesperson from Kensington Palace told TIME on Sunday, March 24, that Princess Catherine and Prince William are “touched” by the support they have received during this difficult time.

“The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the U.K., across the Commonwealth, and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message,” the joint statement read. “They are extremely moved by the public's warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”
