We’re all still waiting to find out if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to accept their invitation to King Charles’s coronation in May, but a silly thing like that isn’t enough to stop the royal gossip mill from churning out new details about what it will be like if they *do* decide to attend.

In spite of early reports suggesting that Harry and Meghan would be seated in some kind of exile zone (preferably behind a large pillar and underneath a leaking air conditioning vent, we assume, based on some of the descriptions of how the rest of the royal fam felt about the Sussexes attending the coronation at all), royal insiders are now going on the record (anonymously, ofc) to make it clear that’s not the case at all. In fact, not only will Harry and Meghan not be seated in the nosebleeds if they attend the coronation, they’ll reportedly actually have pretty spectacular seats.

“Nothing that happens between now and then will make any difference to the seating plan,” a source described as a friend of King Charles told the Daily Beast. “Charles has always said that he loves both his sons. He wants them both there. Harry and Meghan are invited and will be seated prominently.”

According to the Daily Beast, if the seating set up for the coronation is the same as it was for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral (which it seems like they expect it to be) with 14 seats in the front row, Charles will have his wife Camilla and the Wales fam (Prince William and Kate Middleton and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) seated to his right. The seven seats on the left-hand side of the aisle (still in the front row) are expected to go to other senior members of the royal family. Charles’s undisgraced siblings, his sister Princess Anne and brother Prince Edward, as well as their respective spouses (Anne’s husband Sir Tim Laurence and Edward’s wife Sophie), are pretty much shoo-ins for the first four seats. The fifth seat *could* go to the disgraced Prince Andrew (who is still Charles’s brother, after all), and the sixth and seventh could be reserved for Harry and Meghan if they decide to attend, apparently.

“Charles has a strong sense of tradition, and tradition dictates that Harry ought to be in the front row,” a different friend of the King’s (who, FWIW, says the seating chart has not been finalized yet) told the Daily Beast. “I am sure he will do the right thing. Despite everything that has happened, he is his son.”

Of course, none of this matters at all/will ever truly be confirmed if Harry and Meghan RSVP no, so….
