Buckingham Palace did not explicitly deny that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be moving to Africa in the future this weekend, although it did say "any future plans for The Duke and Duchess are speculative at this stage." Meghan and Harry want to go though, the Daily Mail's royal reporter Rebecca English reported today, but just for six months rather than two to three years, as the Sunday Times originally reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hope to do the trip in the next few years, with English writing that, according to her sources, "planning for the move is still in the 'brainstorming' stage, [and] there have been no formal discussions outside the palace walls." At this point, it is unclear what country or countries the couple would be in.

"Some early conversations have taken place in a very informal way," a source told English. "At the moment, this is very speculative. There haven't been formal conversations with anyone from Commonwealth countries or governments."

That source stressed that a longer, years-long move was unlikely.

"It's more likely to involve them going somewhere for a couple of months, rather than moving somewhere," the source said. "When you look at the duke's focus on environmental issues, it's a great opportunity to go and work in a more in-depth way in one place. It's an invaluable chance to be on the ground and do some hands-on conservation work, rather than undertake the 'traditional' royal tour model. The Sussexes don't have the constitutional constraints that William and Kate have, so they have a little more flexibility to explore and be creative, while being respectful of the constraints of the institution."

Meghan and Harry's decision to do an extended visit abroad is not because they're trying to get away from Prince William and Kate Middleton. English reported that although there has been "tension" between the Royal Fab Four, Harry has wanted to pursue a foreign sabbatical for "many years."
