Since the tragic passing of Queen Elizabeth was announced this afternoon, an outpouring of sympathy has already flooded the UK from all over the world, including from within the royal family itself.

Among them, Queen Elizabeth's grandson, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, who shared a stately tribute to the late monarch on the website for their foundation, Archewell.

After the news broke of the Queen's death, the front page of the Archewell site changed to a simple black background with white text, reading, "In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022"

At the time of the Queen's death, Harry—who was in Europe with Meghan for a series of events to support charities close to their hearts—joined other members of the royal family in Balmoral, the Queen's beloved Scottish retreat, where she had been placed under medical supervision and ultimately passed away.

Since their decision to step back as working royals and relocate to America in 2020, speculation has arisen several times about Harry and Meghan's relationship with the royal family. However, Harry's grandparents, nonetheless, clearly played an important role in his life. He was said to be extremely close with his grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021, and he and Meghan even chose to pay homage to the Queen when naming their daughter, Lilibet AKA Lili—a nod to the Queen's nickname within the royal family.

In 2022, the Sussexes were able to visit the Queen on several occasions—stopping for tea with her in Windsor in April as they traveled to the Hague for the Invictus Games, and then in June when they visited the UK for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

While the official details for Her Majesty's funeral have yet to be confirmed to the public, it's likely that Harry, at least, will be in attendance for the event, as he was for Philip's funeral. At that time Meghan, who was late in her pregnancy with baby Lili, wasn't able to travel for the service; it's not yet clear whether both of the Sussexes will remain in England to pay their respects.
