Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Owe Their Canadian Getaway to David Foster

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Owe Their Canadian Getaway to David Foster

Even though their Canadian holiday may have involved not getting to eat at a culinary hotspot, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had, by all appearances, a great time. Part of that involved their ultra-luxe vacation home on Vancouver Island, which, according to the Daily Mail, came together thanks to one David Foster. The superproducer told the publication that he helped the royals find that specific property, which featured 11,416 square feet, five bedrooms, and eight bathrooms.

"I felt honored that I was able to help Meghan there, because I'm a Canadian and we're a commonwealth country, we're the Crown's," Foster said. "It's important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment. I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite just to take a little time off."

Entertainment Tonight notes that the home actually belongs to one of Foster's close friends, so all it may have taken is a clutch phone call and favor. He didn't name exactly who, but knowing Foster's connections in the entertainment industry, it could be anyone from a Billboard chart-topper or big-screen star.

"The owner has allowed this to happen through me, and I was happy to facilitate," he added. "I don't know what their next plans are, but I know that it was reinvigorating for them to spend some downtime. This is a great testament to my hometown of Victoria that they were able to go under the radar for so long."

Anyone wondering just how Foster connects to the royals can look to his wife, Katharine McPhee. She attended Immaculate Heart Middle School, but her older sister attended its companion high school in Los Angeles alongside Meghan Markle.

"Katharine went to school with Meghan and her sister went to school with Meghan," Foster shared. "We actually met Meghan and Harry at D-Day in London maybe a year ago. Immediately we were drawn to them, like everybody is, and I was just happy to help."

He added that he was just happy to help and be part of the royal holiday.

"I was just happy through my friend to facilitate what I could for them, and it looked like they had a great rest," he added. "They're a young modern family. I'm sure they want to balance their commitment to the crown and be a 2020 family."
