In September of 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a stunning move by signing a landmark, multi-year deal with Netflix to produce content with the media production arm of Archewell, Archewell Productions. The original deal noted that they would create an array of content, including documentaries, docu-series, movies, scripted shows, and children’s content.

Rumors about those properties swirled, with various confirmations and denials about what may or may not be ahead for the Sussexes production company. One of the most feverishly speculated about? A docuseries about the Sussexes themselves.

Titled simply Harry & Meghan, the show debuted three episodes on the streamer today, with another three scheduled to release on December 15.

Per the streamer, the show includes "commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press."

Here's everything we know so far.

Meghan confirmed the Netflix series in October.

Even the existence of the series has remained up in the air for quite some time, but in an interview with Variety, Meghan confirmed that it was going forward. Asked specifically about the docuseries, directed by Liz Garbus, Meghan told the publication, "It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it. But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens."

Later in the interview, speaking about Archewell's projects, Meghan added, "So much of how my husband and I see things is through our love story. I think that’s what people around the world connected to, especially with our wedding. People love love. I’m not excluded in that sentiment. And our definition of love is really expansive: Partner love, self-love, the love of community and family. We use that as the baseline of the kind of shows and documentaries we want out there."

The news comes after Meghan gave a rare interview with The Cut in August speaking on, among other things, the couple's plans for the Netflix slate. When questioned about the possibility of a behind-the-scenes reality series on her life with Prince Harry and their kids, at the time Meghan denied the claims. However, the duchess noted the difference between a historical documentary and a reality docuseries, adding, "The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story."

Questioned further about a documentary about her love story with Prince Harry, Meghan said, "What’s so funny is I’m not trying to be cagey,” she says. “I don’t read any press. So I don’t know what’s confirmed." The duchess said that she would leave it to Netflix and her own publicist to share any additional news on the subject, though she did say that Liz Garbus, the now-confirmed director for documentary, "is incredible."

Rumors had previously surfaced that the Sussexes were working on an "at home" style reality series.

In May, Page Six reported that there may be a new development on the horizon for at least one of those genres, citing unconfirmed sources who say the couple are working on an at-home style docu-series.

According to the publication, Netflix has been working on a behind-the-scenes look at the royal couple for some time, filming them in their Montecito home as well as on their September 2021 trip to New York City. Netflix declined to comment on the story, and the Sussexes representatives were unavailable for comment at the time.

The speculation was echoed by the Los Angeles Times.

Harry & Meghan hope to tell their story.

When asked why they're making this program, Harry says in the teaser trailer: "No one sees what's happening behind closed doors. I had to do everything I could to protect my family." Meghan then adds: "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"
