From Town & Country

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may just be days away from officially stepping back as working royals (the transition date is set for April 1), but they're still finding ways to support the UK from abroad.

Today, the couple joined UK citizens, including their own royal relatives, in a sweet gesture for the healthcare workers on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis. The "Clap for Carers" campaign is encouraging the British people to take a moment to clap in appreciation for the National Health Service's staffers, from pharmacists to nurses and doctors.

In an Instagram story posted against a black background, the couple wrote, "Thank you for all that you continue to do! Applauding you from across the pond," and added plenty of clapping emojis.

Back in the UK, other royals took part as well. Prince William and Kate shared an adorable video of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, clapping together. Louis, now nearing his second birthday, is particularly delightful to watch.

"To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you," Kate and William added in their caption.

Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are currently staying (and hewing to the government's social distancing recommendations), shared a video of people all around the property leaning out of windows and stepping outside to clap. And Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex also shared a video of their family clapping together.

It seems this is one way the royals are making good on a promise the Queen made in her statement about the coronavirus pandemic—that her "family and I stand ready to play our part."
