Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Deny That They're Planning to Sue Over a 'South Park' Episode

A spokesperson for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just formally shut down reports that they're considering suing over a recent episode of South Park. But just to rewind a sec, South Park took aim at the royal couple in an episode last week titled "Worldwide Privacy Tour," which was about a "Prince of Canada and his wife," who at one point is introduced as a "sorority girl, actress, influencer, victim." In the episode, the couple is seen carrying around signs that say "we want our privacy" and "stop looking at us," as the Prince of Canada promotes his book "Waaagh."

After the South Park episode aired, false reports circulated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were considering a lawsuit—but their spokesperson told People, "It's all frankly nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports." The spokesperson didn't comment on other reports claiming that Meghan in particular was "upset and overwhelmed" by the episode.

FYI that the Sussexes's spokesperson previously hit back at inaccurate claims about the royal couple's privacy around the time Harry & Meghan came out on Netflix, saying, "Their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties. Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series. They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion. The facts are right in front of them."
