Surrounding the rollout for Prince Harry's memoir Spare, there was much discussion surrounding his relationship with his father, King Charles.

"If you are invited to the coronation, will you come?" ITV's Tom Bradby asked Prince Harry, wondering if Harry and Meghan Markle will travel to the UK this spring for Charles's coronation.

Harry responds, "There's a lot that can happen between now and then. But, the door is always open. The ball is in their court." He adds, "There's a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they're willing to sit down and talk about it."

In another point in the ITV interview, Prince Harry says, "I want a family, not an institution." In yet another, he says, "I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back."

Whether or not the Windsors will reconcile in time is a pressing question. In early March, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed to Town & Country that "The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

The news came shortly after a report in The Times suggested that "peace talks" were being planned between the Sussexes and the rest of the royals ahead of the coronation. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, was reportedly tapped as a mediator. Welby, too, is set to officiate at the coronation.

King Charles's coronation will take place on May 6, 2023. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said, "The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort. The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry."

May 6 is a significant date for the royals for many reasons—including the birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's eldest, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie will turn four on the day of his grandfather's coronation.
