  • Prince Harry said he loved his family and was "grateful" to spend time with King Charles.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wrap up their three-day visit to Whistler and Vancouver to celebrate one year until the 2025 Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex made a rare comment on his father, King Charles, while speaking to Good Morning America's Will Reeve.

"I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could," Harry said about learning about his father's cancer diagnosis. "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that." When Reeve then asked about Charles' health, Harry replied, "That stays between me and him."

On February 5, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. "The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure," the Palace said in a statement. "He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer." (The Palace clarified that Charles's cancer was not prostate cancer, but did not provide any further insights.)

Before the news was public, Charles told his sons, Harry and William, personally. Soon after, Harry jetted across the world to see his father, and spent around 30 minutes with Charles at Clarence House last Tuesday. Soon after meeting with Harry, Charles departed for Sandringham. While Harry was in the UK for just over 24 hours, he did not meet with his brother, Prince William.

The Sussexes were in British Columbia for the past few days, and their events wrap up on February 16.
