Prince Harry just announced that he’s writing a casual memoir about his life, and there’s been some speculation about whether or not he told the royals about his plans in advance. Answer: He did!

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told Entertainment Tonight that Harry—as the outlet put it—“recently had a private conversation with his family about the book,” although he “would not be expected to get permission for a project like this from the palace.”

That said, the royals are reportedly not thrilled about Harry’s plans. Apparently, Prince William and Prince Charles are specifically said to be “nervous” about the memoir, while a source told The Mirror, “There is a now tsunami of fear among the royals over what Harry will write. Many hope he may correct a few things but do not hold much hope.”

Harry released a statement about his memoir in conjunction with its announcement, saying, “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

Literally cannot wait to read it.
