Prince Harry Continues Fight To Bring Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet to England — But He Still Needs One More Piece in Place

Even though Prince Harry’s father evicted him from Frogmore Cottage, and even though the Duke of Sussex made it clear that the U.S. is partly home this summer (see the adorable photos HERE), and even though he cut so many ties with his bombshell memoir, Harry still considers the U.K. to be his home. And what’s his home, should — at least in some ways — be his family’s home too.

It’s why he’s continuing to fight for security in the U.K. so his children can “feel at home” in the country where he was born. That won’t be a reality, though, unless they can safely visit. And so he’s challenging a decision that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures made in 2020 to remove his right to U.K. police security. And even though the Duke of Sussex offered to cover the costs, that was rejected.

During a three-day hearing in London, Prince Harry’s lawyers shared a moving statement from the prince in his absence.

“It was with great sadness to both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020,” the statement said, according to ITV. “The U.K. is my home. The U.K. is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the United States. That cannot happen if there is no possibility to keep them safe when they are on U.K. soil.”

Harry — who shares kids Prince Archie, 4 and Princess Lilibet, 2 with wife Meghan Markle — also said he can’t put his wife in “danger” and that “given his experiences in life,” he is reluctant to step out without security himself.

And no matter how strained (at best) things may seem among the royal family, Harry and his legal counsel insist he wants to take his family of four across the pond.

“Of course, it should go without saying that he wants to come back: to see family and friends and to continue to support the charities that are so close to his heart,” his lawyer Shaheed Fatima said last year. “Most of all, this is, and always will be, his home.”
