Prince George’s future is still up in the air, if Kate Middleton and Prince William’s latest move is to be believed. The second-in-line to the British royal throne reportedly has a new school option to consider after insiders revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales recently toured St. Edwards School.
School Tour
Daily Mail reported that William and Kate toured St. Edward’s School in Oxford, known as “Teddies” (likely before her abdominal surgery on Jan. 17). “They’ve been to have a look,” a Teddies grandee said. The school is located on 100 acres and includes a golf course and a boat house. As far as education goes, pupils are encouraged to take “Pathways and Perspectives” courses in addition to their GCSEs, which are designed to teach about sustainability, design, sports science, and more.

“Kate wants a school that suits all of her children and keeps them grounded,” a source told The Mail on Sunday, per Daily Mail.
All About St. Edwards
If they decide to go with St. Edwards, it comes with a hefty price tag. William and Kate will need to dish out £46,980 per annum for the school that accepts both boys and girls ages 13 to 18, per Hello! Magazine.
Melanie Sanderson, education consultant and managing editor of The Good Schools Guide gave Hello! several reasons why the Waleses might want to send their eldest son to St. Edwards.
“It’s the million-dollar question,” Sanderson said. “I get asked this all the time. ‘Where do I think William and Catherine will send the children?’” She added, “I can’t see why Teddies wouldn’t be a serious contender though. I can’t name names, but there are a few people who are loosely connected to the royal family at Teddies, so it’s not as much of a rogue choice as it might appear.”

“Obviously, it’s co-educational,” she continued, which means that George’s sister Princess Charlotte, 8, could also attend when she’s older. “And I think we’re getting that strong message that William and Catherine want to educate their three children [including their youngest Prince Louis, 5] together, or they’re certainly considering it very seriously.”
She added, “Teddies is very grounded, very understated. It’s classy, it’s not bling, it’s down-to-earth. It also has a very strong ethos of service and connection to the local community, which is core to what the royals do. We’re told that William and Catherine are trying to educate their children to understand their privilege. And I think Teddies is very, very strong on that.”
Decisions, Decisions
Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry both attended Eton College, near Windsor Castle, and Princess Kate went to Marlborough College alongside siblings Pippa and James Middleton. So, Prince George has many options when it comes to his future schooling!
Prince George currently attends Lambrook School with his younger siblings, but his parents are already touring various schools to prepare for his 13th birthday. This has reportedly caused some tension between William and Kate, who would rather George not attend a boarding school.
“Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy. Plus, she’ll miss George desperately,” an insider told OK! in Oct. 2023. “She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.”
A school like Teddies that is down-to-earth and focused on service — and which is only about an hour away from Windsor — may be the perfect compromise!
