Prince George’s Go-To Designer Opens Up About the Royal's Evolving Wardrobe
You may have already noticed, but Prince George is growing up fast. And it was his last two appearances that made us realize that as he gets older, his wardrobe is also evolving.
The 7-year-old royal recently attended the UEFA Euro 2020 Championships at Wembley Stadium in London with his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton. For the occasion, George matched his father, who is President of the Football Association, in a navy suit, a blue shirt and a striped tie.
Following the event, People spoke with Sophie Mirman (the founder and creative director at Trotters), who has dressed the young royal throughout the years. During their chat, Mirman opened up about his look for the event and confirmed how his style will continue to change as he grows older.
“I thought he looked very dapper and regal," Mirman told the outlet. “He must have felt very cool and grown-up in his new jacket and tie—matching with his dad was actually very cute too. I think his parents are fantastic at judging what to wear and when. He is growing up fast and more of a young man than a little boy now."
The ensemble is a bit different from what Geoge has donned in the past. According to the royal family dress code, young boys aren’t supposed to wear pants—only shorts—before the age of eight. This is why we’ve seen George sporting outfits that show his legs for the majority of his life.
She continued, “I think it would have been rather strange to see William in a suit and tie and his son in shorts and a polo shirt—it was right for the occasion."
Looks like Prince George officially outgrown the shorts phase of his life.
